Muhammadu Sanusi II: I do not want Nigeria to be divided

Former Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II has called the call for the partition of Nigeria a big mistake. During a ceremony in Lagos to celebrate his 60th birthday, Khalifa Sanusi said the country needed to be united and govern in a fair manner. The former Emir of Kano also expressed frustration at the lack of focus on education by some leaders in Nigeria. He said giving priority to the education sector, especially for girls, would lead to national development and economic growth.

During the ceremony, friends of Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi raised huge sums of money to support girls’ education in Nigeria. The former Emir of Kano has launched a series of essays on which funds raised will be used to support education. He also used his position as the UN’s ambassador to the United Nations Development Program (SDGs) to stress the need for the country’s rich to support education, especially in rural areas.

Six governors attended the ceremony, including those from Kaduna and Lagos. Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, CBN Governor Godwin Emefele and other traditional rulers attended the ceremony. Heads of private banks and traditional rulers also attended the ceremony.
